Public transportation on Tahiti is very limited. Perhaps the most convenient
and popular way to get around the island is by the public bus system
called Le’ Truck. Le’ Truck is a car service, that imitates
a bus, with pre determined road pickups, one of the most economically
ways to get practically any where on the island. Prices for Le’
Truck are $1.25 in francs and the car service will take you to any
location on the island. The currency in Tahiti is the French Pacific
Franc (CFP), though credit cards and US dollars are common. Exchange
rates vary, but there are approximately 100CFP to the US Dollar.
Le' Truck schedules can be found at the airport. You can also ask
your hotel about the Truck schedules once you've settled in. Other
modes of transportation include rental cars, bicycles, and taxi
services.
