Getting Around New Orleans

The best way to see New Orleans is by foot. The French Quarter is so picturesque; you really won’t want to miss any part of it. Parking is limited and typically expensive, which makes driving more of a hassle then it’s worth. If you have to drive, get a taxi.

New Orleans does operate an excellent transit system that includes buses and streetcars. Trolleys run 24 hours a day. The base fare is $1.25 but you must have the exact change. With the VisiTour Pass you’re permitted unlimited rides on all buses and streetcars.

Another mode of transportation worth mentioning is the Canal Street Ferry, which provides free travel across the Mississippi River.
