Getting Around Cozumel

Cozumel has limited public transportation. Downtown buses are mainly for the locals to travel to and from work. They do not stop at any of the hotels or beaches, nor any of the main attractions.

The island does offer many rental vehicles, ranging from the popular moped to the Volkswagens, Dune buggies, Suburbans and Jeeps.

Public ferries shuttle visitors back-and-forth from Cozumel and Play del Carmen every day. Passenger-only ferries dock at Cozumel’s main pier and depart on the hour, most hours between 5AM and 10PM. Bad weather may cause delays or cancellations, but expect the trip to take about 45-minutes one-way.
