Washington DC Shopping

Washington DC has some of the most charming shopping
districts in the nation. If you’re out sightseeing, you
may want to stop by Union Station while you’re at it.
In addition to being a railroad station, Union Station is also
one of the premier shopping malls in Washington DC, certainly
the best place to shop on Capital Hill. Union Station boats
over 100 specialty stores and 45 eateries. |
Downtown Washington DC is another choice shopping area. The majority
of shops are concentrated between 7th and 14th streets and between
New York and Pennsylvania Avenues. The scene includes popular retails
like Banana Republic, Anne Taylor and H & M, in addition to
a Hecht’s department store. There are also a slew of fine
stores along Connecticut Avenue.
The shops around Georgetown are a favorite amongst locals and visitors
alike. Georgetown offers a wonderful mix of familiar retailers,
one-of-a-kind boutiques and fine restaurants to choose from. There
is also a small shopping mall off the main drag.
Old Town Alexandria is another popular shopping area, very similar
to Georgetown. Though, it doesn’t get quite as crowded. The
stores do close up shop early. Therefore if you can’t make
a day of it, don’t bother making the journey. Even if you
strike out shopping, it’s still fun to stroll around Alexandria’s
historic colonial streets.
Just outside Washington DC, there are a number of impressive shopping
malls in Virginia and Maryland. Some of the more grandiose choices
include Tyson’s Corner, Pentagon City, and Towson Town Center.
