New York City Culture

New York City is arguably the most multi-cultural city in the world. A friend made a comment to me that every different language is spoken on the streets of New York City except English. That’s a bit of an exaggeration. Though, it’s not uncommon to hear people conversing in different languages.

Over the last century New York Harbor welcomed millions of immigrants to the United States.

Consequently, New York developed into a hub of cultural diversity with many cultural neighborhoods including Italian, Jewish, and Chinese. Even today, more immigrants settle in New York City then anywhere else.

New York City is the nation’s financial capital. Not to mention a major center for entertainment, media and fashion. If you are ambitious and have dreams, New York City is the place to realize them. New York City’s culture attracts many alpha types. Everyone wants to be the best. New York is a city of tough, business savvy, work-alcoholics that never sleep. However, for many people New York City can be overloading. People usually either love or hate New York City.
