2 hours outside of Cancun, some describe this archeological city
as the greatest archeological site in all of Mexico. The city was
the most important Mayan city in the region. It was founded around
400 AD and flourished between 800 and 1200 AD. The construction
style changed over time, combining influences of different Mayan
groups and cultures known through trade. The city is approximately
2 and ½ square miles and tours may take 2 or 3 hours.
