Barcelona Weather

Barcelona enjoys a relatively pleasant climate year-round. Unlike Madrid, which nearly freezes in the winter, Barcelona never experiences extreme cold and it rarely snows. The best times to visit would be in the spring and early fall. During the summer months of July and August, Barcelona is overwhelmed by heat and visitors. Most Europeans take their holidays during these months, and most coastal cities in Europe are booked solid. However, because Barcelona is close to the water, it is still quite enjoyable. Being close to the water does, however, have other effects. Barcelona’s humidity averages about 70% year round.
